Campground Policies during COVID times
The Health and safety of staff and campers is of great concern to us. Brialee has implemented the following policies and safety measures to help keep our staff and campers safe while enjoying the park.
- Our Camp store and office opened effective May 20th with restrictions.
- 4 patrons in the store at a time, masks are required.
- Reservations are requested to be done online or by calling office (not occupying space in office at this time).
- We are working everyday (9-5 Monday through Thursday; 9-10 Friday & Saturday; 9-5 Sunday)
- Store items are also available via curb-side pickup (any time) and delivery (Fridays & Saturdays only)
- Social distancing is required when waiting to enter the store & inside the store
- Download CampersApp (login "brialee") and click "store" button for list of items available for purchase
- If you don't see what you need, just call.
- Temporarily- We will be preparing/serving coffee/tea/soft-serve ice cream, slushies instead of self serve
- We have installed plastic shields between public and staff at register and reservation counter
- Bathrooms are now open (effective May 20th), and are being cleaned in accordance to CDC and Department of Health guidelines.
- Brandon's Place opened (effective May 23rd), with "bring your own" sports equipment.
- Mini Golf is now open (with sanitizing of equipment between each use)
- Playgrounds are open - please prepare to have kids wash hands after playing on playgrounds.
- Pool opened 6/17 - Sign up at pool at 11am daily. You can sign up for one swim session on weekends and 2 swim sessions midweek (with atleast one hour in between sessions).
- Pool swim session is 45 minutes, then closed for 15 minutes for cleaning. If wanting more pool time, please go up on the hour at any hour and be "on call" to see if people don't show up for their reserved times.
- Masks are not required when at the pool.
- The beach is open with no limits. It is crowded on hot days, so please be prepared.
- Masks are not required at the beach. You can separate your family by finding a clear area on the beach.
- There are groups of people who camp together now and will be sitting together on the beach.
- Tubes are allowed - you can put tubes/floats/kayaks/canoes/paddleboats, etc in the water for your use
- Boat rentals are now open for 1/2 hour rentals with disinfecting in between usage.
- The beach shack is open daily 12-5 minimum.
- The rec halls are now open with every other table closed off for social distancing.
- Most activities are offered outside when possible, for proper social distancing. One family per table, tables are separated in both game field, inside rec hall, and at Brenda's Villa and Brandon's Place.
- When coming to activities, please bring masks - you may be asked to wear them depending upon the close proximity for that particular activity. Especially when lining up or when materials are being handed out.
- We will sanitize frequently in accordance with CDC and State guidelines and recommendations
- We will limit staff interactions with guests
- Registration, Reservations, and Check-in will continue be contact-free via email, text, app, or call-in
This is the status of the following facilities:
- Bathrooms (opened Memorial Weekend)
- Laundry Room (anticipating in the next week or two)
- Arcade / Game Room (opened 7/1 - with game room attendant cleaning frequently)
- Playgrounds (opened 6/10)
- Brandon's Place (opened Memorial - bring your own equipment)
- Mini Golf (opened 6/10) (sanitized between usage, limit on families on course at a time)
- Recreation Halls (opened 7/1 - with tables closed in between for social distancing)
- Brenda's Villa (Bingo Hall) (opened 7/1- every other table closed off for social distancing)
- Adult Lounge (closed)
- CREATE Studio (by-appointment only)
- Beach Shack (open daily 12-5 minimum)
- Boat rentals (opened 7/1) with boats disinfected in between usage
- Other common areas (closed)
Effective 7/1 - activities are now offered in person with social distancing, masks recommended - atleast when materials are being handed out. Most activities are done outside with families each getting their own tables or space. Things are relaxing a bit as people have been out of their homes for a few months now. But there are still campers that may be coming out for the first time, so please be cautious and respectful, carry your masks when going around the park, use them when you are within six feet of another camper not in your family, and do not go on other people's sites without asking permission.
Outdoor organized gatherings are suggested to have 15 feet of space blanket to blanket, cap of 500 people.
(prior to 7/1)
We will be adding activities and loosening restrictions and we are allowed to. We have been finding new ways to keep your family entertained, including craft delivery site-to-site, virtual games and challenges, scavenger hunts, and even virtual bingo! All the other great things we have to offer are still available too - fishing, hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming in the pond, taking your pet for walks, campfires, cooking s'mores, playing games, and more!
We are respectfully asking guests to comply with the following:
- All guests will need to sign a waiver stating they understand about the restrictions in place
- Only registered campers will be allowed on the sites
- No visitors will be permitted until further notice (this is per state mandate)
- Please continue to wash hands frequently and sanitize often
- Any camper with cough, fever, or generally not feeling well is asked to please not come camping
- Limit your coming and going from the park and get things delivered as much as possible
- Please honor social distancing recommendations - we will be monitoring for compliance
- Masks are to be worn whenever you are within six feet or likely to be within six feet of people outside your group
- Please keep group gatherings to no more than 10 (or the amount within your group if more than 10)
- All other campground rules still apply.
- Questions or concerns should be addressed to office during business hours.
- After hours site issues, please call security 860-377-1731
Just like CDC, State, and Local COVID-19 Orders, business as we knew it no longer exists, and is constantly changing and evolving. With this pandemic, we have been forced to also make changes to some of our policies to accommodate the massive influx of reservation cancellations and postponements due to COVID-19.
This is a summary of the changes that have been made:
This is a summary of the changes that have been made:
7/26/2020 - Updates have been posted above for changes to what is open & closed and requirements for camping.
5/23/2020 - Update posted above for what is open and what is closed.
5/1/2020 - Open to transient camping 5/20/2020. Now taking reservations for after Memorial Weekend.
4/23/2020: All reservations have been postponed or moved until May 1st opening - with suggestion on moving them back to after Memorial weekend.
4/3/2020: Season opening postponed while we await response from state regarding our appeal. First weekend of Spring Fling pushed back. Reservations for week ending 4/10 will be credited. Campers with weekend reservations have been contacted by email.
3/28/2020: Seasonal campers are notified by email of change in opening date. Campers with weekend reservations have been contacted by phone and those reservations rescheduled. Seasonal waiver required. Spring package campers can choose to wait until week of their reservation to see if the current situation changes, and will receive credits week at a time if time is adjusted, for those packages. If you are more comfortable changing the date yourself, please call office to discuss.
3/27/2020: Connecticut's DECD notifies campgrounds they are considered non-essential. Prior to this point, campgrounds were basing their opening dates on the fact that they were considered "essential" under hospitalities & other accommodations clause. The CT Campground Owners Association along with the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, have filed an appeal and are awaiting a response from the state. In addition, Brialee has filed an individual exemption.
3/26/2020: There is no designation from Connecticut regarding the status of campgrounds specifically as either non-essential or essential. ARVC and CCOA await word from legislature. States surrounding Connecticut have declared campgrounds "essential".
3/25/2020: The office will be closed until further notice (essential staff are working). No park visits are allowed, no site visits, no park tours. All reservations are to be made by phone or online only. All seasonal guests are encouraged to make their payments online by credit card or sending in checks. Cash payments, if absolutely necessary, will be done once we are opened by special handling processes. The camp store will be closed until further notice, with curbside pickup and online ordering of camping essentials (once the park is opened). All packages are to be delivered and left on the porch only. Any vendors will not be given access to the office. No other facilities are open - including bathrooms, rec halls, laundry, playgrounds, and other community space. Social distancing requirements are put in place per CDC guidelines.
3/24/2020: Change in cancellation policy, effective immediately. We are asking all reservation calls to postpone, not cancel. We are experiencing the impact of COVID-19 just like the rest of the world, and we understand the impact this has on your travel plans. We have changed our cancellation policy to encourage you to consider changing your reservation date or postponing it for a future date yet-to-be-determined (in which case a credit will sit on your account for future use). At the present time we are not issuing any refunds, until further notice.
